Sony's ''Accomplishments'' Syste ...

We've been happily playing Devil May Cry 4 for a wee while now (check out our review and awesome series retrospective) and whilst doing so we noticed something a little strange about the game's accomplishment system. It's not the first multiplatform game to include the Xbox 360 achievements inside the PS3 version, by any means, though it is the first to allow players to check out their online accomplishment rankings as well as check out exactly which individual accomplishment goals their friends have achieved.

The interesting thing is that the ''Accomplishment Unlocked'' screen is a part of the PS3 Operating System, similar to the network connection screen, rather than an in game messsage. What does this mean? Well it could mean that DMC4 is the first game to include specific data which Home will later be able to turn into trophies (when it's finally released). It could potentially indicate other exciting things, but we'll leave the rampant speculation to those who do it best: you, the commenters. They're not seriously calling them ''accomplishments''...Are they?
Are they going to retrofit this feature back to all already released PS3 games. it kind of needs to be made a standard, like achievements.
About time ... i think the whole achievemnts thing that microsoft did this gen is simply brilliant.
i like my ps3 more than my 360 , but id rather have the 360s achivements with the little message on the screen rather than the whole screen tell me i got it. they should have it in the upper right hand coner, in the same spot the message comes up if a buddy came online or when you get a message

I think the notification comes up after you finish the level or atleast that's what someone on the 1up boards said.
Well... seems it would make sense to ask someone who has played the game rather than wonder if this screen pops up mid-game after accomplishing your accomplishment.

acomplishments is quite an obvious rip off but hey, i think it's a great idea and long over due for ps3.
Yuck. That Sony ''accomplishments'' just made this look more like a brilliant work of art.
Accomplishments will convert into entitlements ($$$$) , with those entitlements you will be able to buy 1st party Downloadable (select third party) games or Home items. Sony is about to take over the gaming world with Home/trophies/accomplishments/entitlements. [spoiler] or not [/spoiler]

Trophies and crap should have been there from day 1. Sony really dropped the ball by not having this ready for launch titles.
