agreed...no system, not even the NES has ever seen its peak yet, and if we do, it sure as hell woun't be in the 2nd/3rd year of a consoles lifeNo system has reached its zenith so stop ...
Well maybe not consoles but we've probably already seen the highest rated game this generation.
The ps3 reached its peak. Sony isn't even developing engines or tools for the thing anymore because of teh cell. They want Toshiba to develop games for them and do all of the cell research , and if anyone knows anything about Toshiba .... they will realise they have little experience in the gaming industry.
Well all the last gen systems have reached there peaks long ago, but the next gen systems, are just starting.
You could probably argue that Wii games aren't going to get much better looking than SMG/SSBB, at least not from a technical standpoint.
