should i play dvds on my elite or should i buy a cheap dvd player because i heard dvds somtimes add stress to the consolsthe xbox dvd player
playing DVDs could have the impact of shortening your consoles lifespan as DVDs require constant reading where games don't, but it shouldn't rly effect it unless you use it as a primary DVD player...however i still would reccomend you just get a cheap DVD player, the lazer in those are amde for constant reading, and your not taking chanses with your 360the xbox dvd player

My Xbox is louder than my computer. I hear the Elites are quieter though.

I shouldn't have lol'd.The dvd motor is constantly spinning, when a disc is inserted, much faster than it spins playing movies. One could argue that playing games will wear out your 360 quicker.

Gaming is likely to degrade your DVD drive quicker than DVD playback will.It isn't a big issue either way. I'd be worried about other parts of the console wearing out well before the optical drive. Even if the DVD drive wears out, it is by far the easiest part to replace.
na go and play some dvd's and when you go rrod get a ps3 whit BR
You can, and since playing games on the 360 generally involves the disk being spun at full speed anyway I wouldn't be too worried about wear-and-tear. That said if you don't have a problem spending the extra cash I'd recommend buying a DVD player, you can get good ones for less than $100 and it will reduce the stress on your 360. Plus I've heard the video quality of DVD movies on the 360 isn't too hot.
DVD on 360 is fine. And it isn't loud when reading DVDs. Picture if great also.

I am not arguing. I'm just saying I watch DVDs on my 360 all the time with no hassle and the picture is great on my LCD 32 inch. AND IT IS NOT LOUD!! It sounds just like how it is in the dashboard, very quiet. Games on the other hand, sound like a jet engine lolThat article was from NOVEMBER 2005, pretty old, ehh?
Is playing a DVD player that has 1080p the same as playing a DVD on the 360????? Pleae i need to know this too.

If you want a high definition movie player, get a PS3 when it gets to 300 bucks, that's what I'm gonna do
Is playing a DVD player that has 1080p the same as playing a DVD on the 360????? Pleae i need to know this too.
No it is not. When you mean 1080p from a DVD player you probably mean upscaling since no regular DVD's would have a 1080p movie on them.

The 360 DVD player is progressive scan but it doesn't upscale unless it is something they added in an update. It's a pretty good picture. Somebody took comparison pictures between 360 DVD and PS3 DVD playback and they looked exactly the same.
Ok well what I am trying to find out and someone mostly answered it but does the 360 upscale to 1080p just as good as a DVD player would upscale to 1080p? i have the Elite also and I use the HDMI cable.
