PS3 - why it will win the console 'war' ...

First of all I been playing games since 7 yrs old (now am 27)... had consoles from all manufacturers... NES, Neo Geo, Sega Genesis, Playstation... (never had Xbox thought got chances to play at my friend's house and they are great consoles too) Back to the present, seeing how things are heating up regarding which is the best console, most of the people are judging by sales figures which is a key factor because have a large install base of users, makes developers want to creat games on that platform.. But what is wrong is that most of the people (fanboys) talk like X360 already won the battle... Same applies to Wii owners which are greater in number since its selling like crazy... well for all those PS3 fans, put down your comments here on why PS3 will win in the end, and to all PS3 haters you can comment on why you think it wont... My view goes like this, PS3 will have a great 2008, with such a line-up (if there are no delays), with Home coming to better the online community, PSN network having updates making it more user-friendly and finally Metal Gear Solid 4.. :) X360 is good (exept when it dies prematurely), but already had a huge blow with Blu-ray winning the format battle... As regards games library, it was the only thing it had better than PS3, but 2008 will see a huge change... Line-up is in favour of the PS3.. As regards Wii, in 2 years maximum i guess we'll see a Wii 2 coming out, since technically it was not built for a long life-time.. Yes it is selling VERY well, but apart from 1st party devs, using the same old Franchises (Metroid, Zelda, Mario) what else it has to offer to gamers.. Wii Fit / Wii Sports ???? Thanks but i rather play my Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Resistance, Tekken, Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Ratchet %26 Clank etc etc... Sales started slowly for PS3, although seeing sales in Europe and Japan of the X360 its not that it did much better, but 2008 will change it all.... PS3 - why it will win the console 'war' ...

We dont really want to hear that you have been gaming since this age or that age. I'm the same age as you and I have been gaming just as long! This would be more suited to your blog mate!

I want the ps3 to win. I like my wii, but I dont want it to smash the ps3. The ps3 is the most ambitious console and if it doesn't get some serious sales it's potential will be squandered on 360 multiplats. I'm refering to bluray btw, but I'm cautiously optimistic that the ps3 is superior in other ways as well. Ultimately I just want it to be worthwhile for many devs to make games so big that they barely fit on a bluray disc. That will not happen if can't possibly make back the cost. Then the ps3 will be first party heavy just like the n64I mean, why does the wii need all that money? It will get a bunch of third party support, that's certain now, but there's not as many ways to invest in development compared to the time that a dev could spend on a ps3 or 360 game. Devs stand to make bucketloads of cash on the wii, a lot of which would have otherwise been spent on the games

I don't care who wins, if the games show, gamers win. Rooting for a piece of plastic is lame.
Why does everyone think the Wii is likely to have the shortest lifespan while it's the least reliant on specs?
(I think i do know the answer; because of its costs and shortcomings people wouldn't mind paying for an improved version early on? Maybe so, but with its popularity i don't see nintendo starting a console war with itself.)

Do you think that a success of a console is based on 1 territroy or globally? you should make some research too on GLOBAL sales and keeping in mind the 1 year headstart x360 had over PS3

[/QUOTE] Personally being a PS3 fan, am more concerned about Wii, because if this year they manage to keep the sales momentum they had last year it will difficult for Sony and MS... its all in the hands on devs and publishers and who will get better games and exclusives... 2008's line-up for PS3 is not bad though compared to 2007..[/QUOTE]No, compared to last year it's great. I'm not even sure if we're included in European numbers for sales?Plus, there is Australia, New Zealnd etc! Which ever way you play this, it will still take some years before the PS3 catches the 360 in total sales! Sorry mate but that's the reality of the situation!
TO Dazzer 7, well UK is the biggest market in all europe but check latest PS3 sales figures in UK... going up !! also X360 has a huge install base of consumers therefore didn't say it will take sony 3 months to catch up... its still a long way to determine a true winner.. One thing you will all agree with me is that COMPETITION is always good for us gamers cause it will push manufacturers / publishers to give better products... So have 3 consoles doing good is a benefit to all of us
Agree with that, but you agree that each console has its year... 2007 was WII's no doubt about it, though X360 did good.. Personally I THINK 2008 will be PS3's year.. then again if line-up is hit by constant delays, I will be one of those to admit Sony would then be fighting a loosing battle...
