http://n4g.com/News-108218.aspxThe executive producer of EA's new sci-fi horror game Dead Space has told VideoGamer.com that the development team won't ''gimp'' the 360 version because the ''PS3 can't do it''. EA won't gimp 360 Dead Space b/c ''P ...
lol ''EA'' More like Devs can't do it. Look at burn out from EA.EA won't gimp 360 Dead Space b/c ''P ...
More and more devs are starting to voice their frustration with the PS3. :
|And then he said both versions will be the same.
When the largest software publisher in the world can't accomplish something on your platform because it's complicated, you have been owned.
''He stressed that both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 versions of the game will ''be the same'' when it's eventually released, planned for late 2008.''Sooo.... if they are the same, what got gimped? And just so you know, N4G is a laughable terrible place to use as a source around here... or anywhere for that matter.
When the 2nd largest software publisher in the world can't accomplish something on your platform because it's complicated, you have been owned.
Fixed.
I think they may need to call in some guys from Criterion.Seriously, there are no excuses for this sort of thing, there are plenty of games that prove to the contrary its possible to have a good multiplat provided you actually approach it right and dont try to half ass a port.
And then he said both versions will be the same.
Because the 360 version is compromised.
And then he said both versions will be the same.
True, I don't get these guys sometimes. Do they listen to what they say? He said they've been working on 360 for over 2 years, ok cool.... now explain COD4?!?!

And then he said both versions will be the same.
Because the 360 version is compromised.
He said it won't be ''gimped'' because of the Ps3 version...Then says they'll both be the same. What?

And then he said both versions will be the same.
Because the 360 version is compromised.
but he stated in the beginning the 360 version wouldnt be compromised, so kindof contradictory dont you think?

He goes on to say it's their fault the PS3 can't do it. Their engineering hasn't caught up.''What happened was the 360 came out a year ahead, so we started developing early on it. Then all of a sudden it was the lead SKU. So it won for two years. For two years it was the one we were just working on. And so our knowledge base is around that. Now you see the tide is starting to turn especially in Europe. So it's really just engineering catching up with it.''
''But from a developer point of view it's called the Fill Rate. It (the PS3) can't handle the physics as well. I mean it can, you just have to get at it. Just more and more engineering.''Playstation 3, taxing developers and making things complicated.
More and more devs are starting to voice their frustration with the PS3. :|
Actually less and less devs are now voicing their frustration with the PS3. That's all we used to hear in the first few months of the PS3. Now they're learning that it's easier to port games from the PS3 to the 360 than from the 360 to the PS3. They're finally coming to grips w/ the technology... as seen in games like Burnout and DMC4. I'm wondering will any games using the Unreal Engine finally perform up to spec on the PS3 after the release of UT3. UT3 performs brilliantly... though I am pretty tired of seeing the engine personally and Epic is not doing a good job of supporting the engine even on 360 games imo (Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey still have plenty of tech glitches).
Wait wait. Isn't 'gimp' a bad thing?
What does it mean?
