Microsoft Acquires Caligari - Is microso ...

Caligari has been in the 3D modeling space for a long time and have a variety of products including those for aiding game development.

What is interesting is that:

a) They are joining the Virtual Earth Team
b) The Virtual Earth Team is looking to 'build an immersive 3D Web experience' according to Caligari's CEO.

The overlap and joining into the Virtual Earth groups seems a tad odd but given Caligari's background in modeling, games and 3D social networks, could be interesting and is definitely something to watch. SourceMicrosoft Acquires Caligari - Is microso ...
hmm is this ms attempt to battle home?Microsoft Acquires Caligari - Is microso ...
if anything this would be out next generation and not this, there would be no sense in releasing a service 1-2 years before the end of the console life span
Home is already beat by Live.
If anything its for Live Maps..
Home is already beat by Live.
How do you know? home isnt even out yet

Home is already beat by Live.
How do you know? home isnt even out yet
You havent seen anything on home?I have.

But I thought 360 fanboys said Home is dumb and Live is way better, why would MS need to battle Home if Live is already beter? (according to fanboys)

MS should ripoff home as sony ripped off achivements from the 360.Also change your sig renegade, the 360 did outsell the ps3 during the holiday season, just look at vg-charts or NPD numbers. And the PS3 was the worst selling console during the holiday season in the USA
Even if this is the case I wont be counting the days until it's released, I'll try it sure to check it out, it'll probably have a cool feature here and there, but I doubt I can see myself constantly going to either one.
Microsoft's Virtual earth team has more to due with their OS and other projects (Windows Live maps) and hardly has any connection to Xbox as far as I know.
Live strips everything down to the most necessary parts of communication between people. Voice and if you choose vision or texting. What's great about it is I can go from doing Portal challenges to playing a TF2 invite to jumping into Saints Row to help some friends boost to playing Halo3 Co-op with my brother and it's all integrated. The only thing I have to do is change discs.I don't need to mope around some virtual hallway. I have no desire to do that. I want to play games online or offline and stay in touch with my gaming network the whole time.
sounds like a Google thing.

IMO I could care less, I don't find the idea of playing house appealing. If the 360 does this oh well, if they don't oh well.
if thats true is yet agian a new clone on a console
Home doesnt look very good, I dont like the idea of having to spend time walking around a virtual world just to chat when you could just be playing a game and chatting..
I'm definitely excited, when MS whips out the wallet, we all win.
